Dulwich Hamlet vs Canvey Island April ‘25

Dulwich Hamlet are in the 7th tier of English Football. Being a very progressive club with a strong community spirit, they have something of a cult following.

This shoot was one of the final games of the 2025 season and they needed a win to avoid relegation, but at half time it was 0–1 and they looked second best.

Somehow they turned it around — two goals, a red card, and a tense finish, but they held on.

What has always interested me about football is that most teams play for 90 minutes a week — but their identity is shaped far beyond that. It’s in the culture, the history, the sense of place… and often, the politics too.

Dulwich Hamlet is a great example and their fanbase is one of the most distinctive in non-league football.
