Indoors
Older people were at the centre of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic emergency - officially classed as vulnerable, and often told to stay indoors and out of sight. But their actual lived experience of lockdown had gone largely unheard.
In spring 2020, I photographed older Londoners and their neighbours on their doorsteps in East London, gathering their stories of coping and connecting during lockdown.
The personal project became a collaboration with researchers from the University of Oxford's Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit, and was exhibited as part of the Being Human Festival 2020.
